Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and assisted to transfer to Emakoko. After a delicious breakfast, transfer to Wilson Airport for a charter flight to Umani Springs for 2 nights. Umani Springs, nestled at the foot of Chyulu hills in the often drought ridden Makueni County in southeast Kenya, is a tranquil little wellspring a 3 hour drive off the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. After breakfast, you will be transferred to Nanyuki for your scheduled flight to the Maasai Mara where you will enjoy a game drive on your way to Cottars 1920's Safari Camp. Kenya’s most famous national reserve, the Maasai Mara runs along the country south-west border with Kenya, just across the border from Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. This gigantic ecosystem is shared by the two countries and protected with a combination of national reserves and community-run conservation areas. Following the rains, the vast herds arrive from Tanzania sometime between August and November each year, crossing some of Africa’s most famous rivers. The multitudes of snorting and cavorting animals, the heart-stopping tension of the river crossings and the sinister patience of the predators that follow the herd all combine to form an epic life-and-death saga that plays out beneath Kenya’s vast skies.
